My journey into the world of agriculture began when I started my bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Benson Idahosa University. However, it wasn’t until I visited a friend’s farm that my passion truly took root.
Little did I know that by simply lending a hand, I would discover a passion that would transform the course of my life.
It was there, amidst rows of habanero peppers and vibrant tomatoes, that I first embraced the rhythm of farming and all the lessons it offers.??
From that moment on, my life has been intertwined with the cycles of planting, nurturing, and harvesting, shaping not only my career but also my perspective on community and collaboration.

As a first-class graduate in agricultural economics, I have always understood the theoretical aspects of farming and economic viability. However, it was the practical experience on that farm that brought these principles to life.??
My friends, who invited me to help, have become more than just friends; they are my brothers and partners in this journey. Their support, knowledge, and unwavering commitment to farming have significantly influenced my path. We have shared countless moments of joy in the fields and learned together through the trials we have faced.??
Participating in the EYIA program was another significant milestone that further fueled my passion for agriculture. The program opened my eyes to the myriad opportunities available in the agricultural sector. It emphasized the need for continuous learning and adaptation in a field that is constantly evolving due to innovation and technology. The connections I made during this program were invaluable, and I was inspired by the incredible stories of resilience and creativity from fellow participants.??
Together, we learned, shared ideas, and fostered a spirit of collaboration that has become the cornerstone of my work today. What I find most beautiful about the Nigerian agricultural space is its inherent spirit of unity. Unlike many sectors where competition often breeds animosity, agriculture brings together diverse individuals with a common purpose—to thrive and grow together.??
It is a community where sharing knowledge and resources is not just welcomed but deeply encouraged. This sense of camaraderie has helped me develop a network of amazing individuals, both online and in person. These are people who share my vision of a thriving agricultural sector, those who are not just looking to succeed for themselves but also uplift those around them.??
As I continue my journey as a farmer engaged in crop production, marketing, and consulting, It deeply concerns me that many young people perceive agriculture as a monotonous or unfulfilling career path. However, I firmly believe that agriculture holds the key to sustainable futures, offering not just a livelihood but an opportunity to innovate, create, and contribute to society positively.??
By sharing our stories, including the challenges we have faced and overcome, we can instill hope and motivate the next generation to embrace agriculture. It is vital that young people understand that a career in farming can lead to financial independence and community impact.??
The road has not always been smooth; challenges and obstacles frequently arise. We have faced pests threatening our crops, unpredictable weather patterns, and market volatility. However, each of these hurdles has served as a powerful lesson, teaching us resilience and adaptability.??
Every setback has only made us stronger and more determined to find innovative solutions. It is through these experiences that I have learned to appreciate the beauty of agriculture as a cycle. sometimes suspended by hardships, yet always promising growth and abundance.?
Looking forward, I have a vision for a vibrant agricultural landscape in Nigeria, one where youths are empowered to see the value in the land and its resources. I am committed to advocating for initiatives that allow them to thrive within this sector.??
Together, we can reshape perceptions of agriculture from a laborious chore to a fulfilling, lucrative business that contributes to our nation’s growth.
